Road construction underway. Drive with caution!

Construction has begun on the 2017 Infrastructure Project focused on 3rd Street West from 3rd Avenue to Railroad Avenue. This project includes replacement and up-sizing of the water main, re-lining of the sanitary sewer main (complete) and most important of all, replacement and up-sizing of the storm sewer including the addition of a new outfall to CN Dam. The Town anticipates the new storm water outfall will assist to reduce overland ponding and flooding on the streets during heavy periods of rain.

The Town awarded the contract for this project to Grayson Excavating Ltd. The milling crew was in Town earlier than anticipated and has milled the asphalt in the project area from 3 – 8 inches deep. The next step in the project is scheduled to start the week of August 7th and will be the actual installation of the water main and the storm sewer lines. These installations will require excavating in the roadway the entire length of the project, so 3rd Street West from 3rd Avenue to Railway Avenue will be closed to traffic until approximately mid-September. Traffic will be required to detour to avoid the area. The final step of the project will be to repave the roadway.

This project is anticipated to be completed by mid-September. The Town of Hanna appreciates your patience and understanding while this infrastructure project is underway. Please drive carefully in these areas and be cognisant of the requirement to detour in that area for the duration of the project.
