Community Youth Fund
The Hanna Community Youth Fund is locally administered and provides support for financially disadvantaged youth to participate in community programs which are not eligible for funding through KidSport Hanna. There is a review committee consisting of representation from Child and Family Services, Hanna RCMP, Community Services, Mental Health and Addictions Services and the Family Resource Worker Program. The fund is administered by the Town of Hanna but supported solely through donations.
Funding is sent directly to the organization on behalf of the youth. There is a stipulation that should the youth not participate in their program - the funds be returned to assist others.
In 2014 and early in 2015 the fund received support from Hanna Cruisers Car Club, Center Street Thrift Store UNIFOR Local 1947, ATCO Electric, Hanna Dance Association, Volunteer Alberta and the recycling collection proceeds from Centennial Place.
From 2005 through 2016, the Hanna Community Youth Fund assisted 98 youth to participate in 47 programs providing funding in the amount of $20,562.
