Hanna is a healthy, active community.  Its many community & volunteer organizations, offer quality programs, services and events.  Most of these are held at the varied Town owned and operated facilities.  Please explore the different facilities as they are listed on this website to learn more about them.

2018 Full Ice Schedule  
The Hanna Agri-Sports Complex houses both the Skating and Curling Rink which are located in the recreation block.  The Arena is beneficial for hosting larger events as it shares  common services with other facilities such as the parking lot area in conjunction with the Community Centre.
The arena is complete with four large dressing rooms, officials room, a fully modern concession area, spacious lobby and entrance, complete washroom amenities and the large bleacher seating area along the ice surface.  
The regulation ice surface is utilized for various activities which include:  horse and cattle shows, rodeo, hockey, figure skating, public skating and many other events.
If you would like to take advantage of any open ice available at the Arena during the winter, please contact any of our Arena Attendants.
During summer activities at the complex make sure to enjoy RCMP Park and the playground facilities located in the same block.

Used primarily by private aircraft owners and private charters, the 3500 foot runway is capable of handling general aviation needs as well as light commercial air firms and charter operations.
The 2000 sq. ft.  terminal building  provides a rest area for pilots and passengers with full washroom facilities.  Transportation, food and overnight accommodations are available a short cab ride away, in Hanna.
The main floor of the airport terminal provides a nice meeting space for small gatherings. To book, please contact the Town Office. The current meeting rental fee (effective 2019) is $45.00/hour plus GST or $175.00/day plus GST.
The Hanna Airport is a "No Drone Zone" according to Transport Canada laws.  You may also be interested in this illustrated guide.

Bouldering Wall

Located in Centennial Place, (501B 3rd Street West), Hanna's Bouldering Wall is 20' w x 81' h.

Freson Bros. Coffee Room

Space suitable for serving of prepared food such as cake, pizza, etc.

Hanna Motor Products Dance Studio #1

Space is suitable for dance classes, yoga, tai chi, low impact exercise or stretching.

Edie May Duff Dance Studio #2

Curling Rink

Situated in the recreational area of the town, the Hanna Agri-Sports Complex houses the Hanna Curling Rink and is located at 501-3rd Street West. It is located adjacent to the Hanna Arena. The Curling Rink was constructed in the early 1980’s. This facility is beneficial for hosting larger events, as it shares common services with other facilities, such as the parking lot area in conjunction with the Hanna Community Centre.

The facility is equipped with a lower level lobby, locker facilities, concession, with an large upper level lounge and viewing. This six sheet artificial, ice facility, has a history of having consistent ice for competitive curling.

The Curling Rink is home to the Hanna Curling Club in the winter months and is also available for rental in the summer months. Summer activities include: Hanna Fall Fair, Hospital Auxiliary Rummage Sale, bike safety course, Antique Gun Show and Sale, dances and 4H activities.

Hanna Curling Club and the Town of Hanna Community Services Department staff have a commitment towards providing the best possible service in quality facilities. Our staff participates regularly in on-going education and training relating to ice management and operations of our facilities.

The Town of Hanna has six ball diamonds which are suitable for all types of ball. These diamonds serve Hanna Minor Ball, the Adult Slo-pitch league and are also available for group function rentals. 

Hanna's ball diamonds are named for people who were influential in maintaining the sport of Baseball in our community. Each diamond has different amenities, but they all have something to offer players and spectators alike.

If you would like to take advantage of any open ball diamonds, please contact the Town Office. We will check our regular user schedules and work to accommodate you.

Robert Rowden Diamond (High School)

Address: Corner of Fox Lake Trail West and Palliser Trail North.

Team and individuals are often seen practising at the Robert Rowden diamond located north of the JC Charyk School.  Spectators have a great view of the diamond and the surrounding area from the bleachers.

Tri-Plex Diamonds

Address: Corner of 12th Ave & 3rd St. W

The Tri-Plex ball facility is home to 3 diamonds including the Kevin Sheehan and Leonard Harrison Diamonds. Each diamond has bleachers with room for numerous spectators as well as dugouts for the players.  There is a batting cage for practices and plenty of parking.  A playground area for young children is located inside the fence and there is a concession building with washrooms.

Wes James & Earl Ness Diamonds

Address: 502 Pioneer Trail 

East of Pioneer Trail and South of the Hanna Pioneer Village and Museum, the Wes James and Earl Ness Diamonds are the oldest ball diamonds in Hanna.  With washrooms and camping facilities close by, these diamonds are a great asset to Hanna.  Each diamond has bleachers for spectators and parking areas close to the diamonds.  It isn't unusual to see parents and grandparents watching a game from the comfort of their vehicle.

Swimming Lesson Registration Form

Lessons are dependent upon minimum registration.
Payment is available by Cash, Debit or Cheque. Credit Cards are not accepted.

June 10 - 14: Session 1
June 17 - 21: Session 2
July    8 - 12: Session 3
July  15 - 19: Session 4
July  22 - 26: Session 5
July  29 - Aug 2: Session 6 (Still spots available)
Aug  12 -16: Session 7 (Still spots available)
Private Lessons may be available during the above session dates.
Private Swimming Lessons available: August 6th - 9th (9 am-12 pm)

Red Cross Learn to Swim and Lifesaving Courses are also offered.
Bronze Medallion: July 2 - 5 ($175)
Bronze Cross: August 6 - 9 ($140) (Still spots available)
Bronze Medallion/Bronze Cross Combined ($270)

No requirement to finish swimming lessons, though completing swim kids is recommended. Bronze Medallion is the first course required to become a lifeguard, and is the prerequisite to Bronze Cross which is required to teach swimming lessons. If you are interested in working at a pool needs to start with this course!

The outdoor pool is utilized for various activities which include: swimming lessons, public swimming, aqua-fit classes and organized swim activities, just to name a few.

  • Children under 9 years of age MUST be accompanied by a person 12 years of age or older.
  • In the event that there is no pool rental the facility will be closed and there will be no staff at the pool.
  • Alberta Health regulations require that all infants must wear disposable swim diapers while in the pool area.
  • Family Rate includes members of the same immediate family, one of whom is a parent, legal guardian or grandparent accompanying a dependent under the age of 18. Max 2 adults.

Community Centre

This multi purpose hall, operated by the Town of Hanna is a great venue for large or small events including weddings, banquets, seminars, stage productions or dances.  The Centre has a 1,300 sq. ft. stage with dressing rooms, 1,500 sq. ft. dance floor, well equipped kitchen, central bar area and patio overlooking a 4 acre park.

Turtle Park

Address: 306 3rd Ave. East
This fenced play park boasts equipment suited to ages 2 - 5, with lots of room to run.

Memorial Park

Address: 201 Centre Street 
Covering almost one acre of land, the park provides shade under the many trees, plenty of grass and flowers to enjoy, lighted walking paths, picnic tables, benches and a gazebo.

RCMP Playground
Address: 300 3rd Street West
This park is located in the recreation area south of the outdoor swimming pool and has benches, picnic tables and play equipment for children 5-7 years of age.
Hector King Hunter Park
Address: 5th Street and 3rd Ave. West
Hector King-Hunter Pioneer Park is an oasis in the prairie. Stroll along the pathway past color displays and water features.
Fox Lake Park & Playground

Owned and operated by the Town of Hanna, this unique area offers a quiet outdoor experience with modern facilities.

Triplex Park

Address: 300 12th Avenue West
The Town built the recreation area that includes three ball diamonds, a concession/washroom building and a large playground structure for children ages 5 to 12.
